Some Words
to the Wise...

If you are the owner of a BMW GS or you are thinking about buying one, there are a couple of things you should know.

#1: If you owned a dirt bike as a kid, forget everything you think you know. Riding a “big bike” is a completely different experience. Weighing-in around 600-lbs with fuel and luggage, it takes some very special skills to manage such a bike.

#2: As noted, most of the world’s roads are unpaved, and in many places the infra-structure is little more than a Jeep trail or a well-used footpath. To take a heavyweight bike like the GS someplace like that may be daunting, unless you know what to do.

Adventure Riding: that is what exists beyond the end of the tarmac. Over 95% of the world's roads are unpaved, so if you don't like to (or can't) ride in the dirt, you'll find yourself confined to a mere 5% of the planet.
