ACCOMODATIONS
In Colorado, most are shared accommodations, but we do have some single occupancy tents for an upgrade fee.
If you plan to participate in our post-training activity (Base Camp Alpha) you may wish to bring your personal camping gear. However, tents, pads and sleeping bags are provided.
In Colorado, service is spotty and sometimes non-existent.
Our Colorado facility has no flush toilets.
Each of our facilities is located in a remote region not serviced by running water. We “truck” our water supply in to each facility. We tightly conserve our water supply.
Gear
CE certified motorcycle apparel made after 2018 will have a “Class” section in the CE label or marking. RawHyde recommends Class AA or higher.
BIKE
In Colorado, no. We do not have tires in stock nor do we have the equipment to install tires.
Please realize that any delay from mechanical failure from your motorcycle (or a RawHyde rental bike) impacts the entire group, and our primary responsibility is to the group rather than the individual. If we can’t manage a quick trail fix, then we may have to leave a damaged or malfunctioning bike “on the trail” and figure the problem out later.
A broken or damaged motorcycle is a challenge in every aspect. It takes our staff away from their otherwise normal duties, and usually makes for an abnormally long day for the crew. The time lost dealing with repair and/or recovery impacts the entire group. Because of these factors we must charge a fee for the recovery of your personal motorcycle.
If you are renting a bike from RawHyde we will absorb the cost of the recovery if the bike “breaks down”. However, if the bike is rendered inoperable due to operator error or damage, all costs associated with the recovery and repair become the responsibility of the rider.
This is our repair and/or recovery policy:
- If a repair/recovery can be performed in less than half an hour, there is no charge.
- If a repair/recovery takes more than 30 minutes the owner of the inoperable motorcycle will be charged a rate of ($120) per hour plus $1.00 per mile to cover the costs of labor, fuel, time, and wear and tear on equipment.
- RawHyde will attempt to recover the inoperable motorcycle, but cannot guarantee we will be able to send one of our trucks into the backcountry to retrieve the machine – our vehicles are primarily for “tour support” i.e. to carry luggage, supplies, etc.
- If a third party is required to retrieve the disabled motorcycle, the financial implications will be the responsibility of the owner of the bike that needs recovery.
The very best way to avoid any issues on the trail is to ride within your abilities, ride cautiously and ride on the “right” side of the road. Be smart and make good decisions!
If you have any questions on the topic of repair and recovery, please reach out to our office at 661-993-9942.
WHO ENROLLS AT RAWHYDE?

Rain is part of the "Adventurer's Lifestyle," and we train accordingly. There are times when you ride in the rain, and there are times when you don't. If the weather forecast during a class indicates showers or light rain, The class goes on! If the forecast is for a solid storm, however, we will postpone the class and give you a "raincheck" or voucher which entitles you to attend any available class in the future. In the event of weather related cancellation, it is our policy not to issue refunds. Typically, we can only offer a 3-day notice of the necessity to cancel a class due to rain. We realize that for clients who must fly-in this represents an additional inconvenience, so we will extend a $50.00 credit to help offset the re-booking fee with your airline. We suggest you consider purchasing travel interruption insurance.
Insurance
There are no charges for the scratches that occur in the normal process of riding off-road. Our bikes have "crash bars”, and we remove the most frequent breakable items, like mirrors and windscreens. And if the bike gets some dings to the valve covers, or muffler or scratches to the paint… there is no additional cost to you.
You are responsible for physical damage to the bike. If you crash and break a headlight or fairing, you will be charged the actual price of the replacement part and a modest installation fee. If you "wipe out" and scrub the paint off half the bike, we will have to repaint it… and you will be charged accordingly.
The way we look at damage is what would you do if the bike was yours? Little scratches are battles scars... but damage must be repaired.
RawHyde does however have a rental bike protection program operates akin to the coverage offered by car rental agencies for their vehicles. Based on our historical data, instances of bike damage typically amount to $750 or less. Consequently, our protection program extends coverage for damages up to this amount to clients renting from our fleet. While we highly recommend opting for this coverage, though it remains entirely optional.
It is your responsibility to have your personal comprehensive, liability and health insurance policies in force at the time of your bike rental at RawHyde. Your personal auto, motorcycle, and/or credit card insurance may provide comprehensive damage coverage, less deductible. You should check with your insurance provider for details of your coverage. When speaking with your insurance representative it is important to emphasize that RawHyde is a motorcycle rider training facility, not a racing facility.
Trip cancelation insurance will help you recover the cost of your booked travel expenses in the unlikely event your RawHyde Adventure training date or tour is postponed, rescheduled, or canceled. There are many travel insurance companies on-line, including Allianz Travel https://www.allianztravelinsurance.com/ as well as travel Insurance comparison sites including https://www.squaremouth.com/ . A good travel insurance overview video can be found here: https://www.travelinsurancereview.net/compare-travel-insurance/
If you are traveling with us outside of the United States, we strongly recommend travel interruption coverage as well as a required health insurance rider through GeoBlue https://www.geo-blue.com/, or a similar insurance provider.
NOTE: RawHyde does not endorse any specific insurance provider, nor are we able to advise you as to which, if any, policy coverage may be most suitable for you.
If you plan to become and Adventure Motorcycle rider, you should invest in medical transportation Insurance. We suggest Medjet Assist https://medjetassist.com/
Medical transportation insurance is NOT medical evacuation insurance. If you purchase a Garmin In-Reach satellite communication devise we recommend you also purchase, at a modest annual fee, medical evacuation insurance through the GEOS Search & Rescue Benefit Program https://www.garmin.com/en-US/p/906397/pn/010-13001-SU.

RawHyde Off Road... Simply the best experience thus far on my bike. Why? Here are a few reasons.
- You can use your own bike EVEN if it’s not a BMW. This was huge for me since I ride a Triumph Explorer XC and wanted to use it for training.
- All inclusive. Once there my lodging and food (I’ll talk about the food later) were included in the price.
- Customer Service. From the start they make you feel welcome. Once there the level of service is legendary.
- Training. They really shine here. The approach taken is to tell you to do “this” or “that” with your bike. This keeps you focused on the task and not thinking about doing it wrong.
- Food. No trip to RawHyde would be complete without commenting on the food. This is not your typical “The was hot and there was plenty of it” kind of place. While this statement is true, one word description is “awesome”. Breakfast was a buffet style affair. Lunch was a box lunch that would put most dinners to shame. Dinner was a 3 course meal complete with wine served to us by the RawHyde staff.
These are a few of the reasons I recommend RawHyde. I would also recommend a trip like the High Rockies Adventure after training to practice your new skills.
Thanks for reading.

I have attended several training classes and events at RawHyde. It reminds me of camp when I was younger. Show up Friday, put away my car keys and my wallet, and enjoy the weekend. Everything is there already arranged for you including bike, food, lodging and the great Dakar Bar! The opportunity to hang out with a bunch of riders around the campfire in the evening, discussing the ride experience from the day, is a great ending before heading to bed.

I just wanted to take a minute to let you know last weeks Base Camp Alpha experience was just incredible. First of all the modification due to weather was brilliant, the ground we covered was beautiful and challenging but not overly intimidating. Arrival Sunday night I felt like I was being greeted by old friends or like I was coming home. Thats the overview, totally satisfied.
Now a couple details, your staff, all of them so far are nothing short of amazing, they really don’t make me feel like some client with a bunch of money there to pay to have a good time. Your staff makes me feel like I’m part of something bigger and I really enjoy the whole experience. I have now had the opportunity to work with six of your coaches, they are all a little different as they are all individuals but they are also 100% first class highly capable instructors, being a good rider is difficult but teaching it is a whole other level of difficulty. I’m very impressed.
I had the the opportunity to ride Tuesday with Jeff And Barty, it had to be one of the greatest rides of my life. I felt really challenged but I never felt intimidated or in any serious danger, just right at my limit but not to the point I felt I was going to get in trouble. I really like those guys and we became friends which is special to me because I’m sort of a lone wolf and making friends doesn’t come easily to me. I also made a couple new friends with other clients and I am probably going to ride to the Grand Canyon in September with one of them who will be picking up a bike from you, (Rob).
Thanks for all you do !!

Anyone that asks about my bike or talks about getting an adventure bike, I say two things... Get a BMW and go to Rawhyde, both of which are worth every penny! I then go on and on about the feeling of satisfaction being able to ride obstacles I would have never thought possible. Read more.

I then go on and on about the feeling of satisfaction being able to ride obstacles I would have never thought possible. And I have to rave about the fantastic food, fun atmosphere as someone who lives on the Central Coast of California, I have to let them know that Rawhyde even has an appreciation for good wine! Who could ask for more? BMW motorcycles and Rawhyde go hand in hand! They have both enriched my life immensely.

It was a great event. So many talented riders from all over the US came to RawHyde Adventures for the 2015 GS Trophy Challenge West Coast Qualifiers. I was lucky enough to work with this amazing team.
